My family demanded i pay their debts at thanksgiving

The next few days were filled with more attempts at manipulation. Calls, texts, even a few passive aggressive posts on social media.

Sarah started sharing things about me with the rest of the family, and I could hear the whispers growing louder.

They were painting me as the villain, the greedy, selfish cousin who had forgotten where he came from.

But I wasn’t going to give in.

Not now.

Not after everything I had worked for.

I spent the next few weeks laying low, focusing on my work, and ignoring the endless family drama. I didn’t even attend the next family gathering.

The text slowed down, but they never stopped entirely.

And then came the final straw.

One day, I got a call from my mom. She sounded frantic.

“Zack, where are you? Your aunt and Sarah are here and they’re furious. They’re demanding you pay up. You need to talk to them.”

I froze.

The situation had escalated to this point.

“They’re threatening to tell everyone that you don’t care about your family,” my mom continued. “They said they’ll make your life miserable unless you give them what they want.”

That was it.

I was done playing nice.

I wasn’t going to let these people tear me down anymore.

I made a decision right then and there that would change everything.

I smiled to myself and replied, “Don’t worry, Mom. I actually have a better idea.”

The decision had been made.

I knew it was time to stop letting my family dictate my life and get even for everything they had done.

But I needed a plan.

I couldn’t just hand them the money and hope they’d leave me alone. No, this needed to be something bigger. Something that would force them to see that they couldn’t walk all over me anymore.

The next few days were intense.

My mom had stopped calling, but I knew Sarah and Aunt Linda weren’t going to give up. I could almost feel their pressure building, their sense of entitlement festering.

I could hear Sarah’s voice in my head.

“You’ll regret this, Zach. You’ll see.”

But I didn’t care.

The more they pushed, the more determined I became.
