“And I’m sorry I saw you giving in as proof everything was okay. It wasn’t kindness. It was convenience.”
“Thank you.”
“I wish I understood earlier.”
“So do I.”
He looked down.
“Is there any chance someday—”
“No.”
I did not say it angrily.
“I forgive the person you’re trying to become, Daniel. But I’m not going back to the marriage we had while you become him.”
He nodded.
